Incredible talent. Incredible man. Sometimes life just isn’t fair. Ken Stevens, rest in peace.
Memories
From Megan Hart
You were one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. I never saw you get angry with anybody, even when it seemed like everything was going to hell all around us. I don’t know if there’s anything to cover in Heaven, but if so, I bet the photos just got a lot better. Rest in peace, Ken. I just hope you know how much you meant to everyone.
From Michael Green
For all who knew Ken, loved him, and understood his passion for family, life, and journalism… our charge is to carry on his spirit, and pass on his legacy.
Please don’t forget to smile in his memory every day. I think he would like that.
What a fine man…
From Theophil Syslo
“The man, the myth, the legend….” this is how I was greeted every time I came in the office by Ken Stevens.
A friend, mentor, and former editor… and just one of the best people you could of been in the company of. I feel lucky to have known him and to been working along his side all of 2013.
I might be in South Caroline but my heart is in Michigan.
From Kendra Stanley-Mills
On my last day at the Muskegon Chronicle, Ken Stevens, gave me a silver necklace inscribed with these words, “I’m so thankful your path crossed mine.”
I feel like there are no better words than that. My life is better because your life touched mine. I love you and miss you already.
From Michael Fagans
The world is a little dimmer today….a great photojournalist and even better person passed away unexpectedly. You will be missed Ken Stevens.
You were a quiet mentor of mine at the Muskegon Chronicle. While Greg and Kendra Stanley Mills were vocal and encouraging, you were the glue that kept the entire department humming along. You always had a smile on your face and an amazing, positive attitude.
You modeled how to be a good human being and a photojournalist. I would always laugh when you came back from a day of feature hunting to proclaim loudly to the staff that you had B3 (B&W) all sewn up.
Peace.
