It is a strange thing to lose someone so suddenly.
I’m raising my camera and toasting Ken Stevens, the most wonderful mentor and friend a girl could’ve asked for. I feel honored for the time I got to spend with him and the lessons he taught me.
Words fail me.
Ken was truly the kindest person I have ever met. Such a positive and encouraging person, it seems like he greeted everyone with a smile and a fist bump. I’m so lucky to have had such an incredible human being as a teacher, mentor, and friend.
We already miss you, Ken Stevens. Thanks for being so kind, making us laugh, and sharing your bucket of popcorn with the newsroom.
I am saddened beyond words. Kenny was one of the most positive people I ever knew. He was the consummate professional who never overstepped his boundaries, be it shooting the funeral of a high schooler killed on Halloween to covering an emotional trial.
My memories are many. Will never forget when we were headed to the Straits of Mackinac to cover Coast Guard ice breaking, probably 1991. I got a flat tire in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere. I grabbed the spare and Kenny grabbed his camera to capture the moment (before helping fix the flat). I’m glad he did! A very sad day for my Chronicle family.
Sad news for anyone that had the pleasure of knowing Ken Stevens at the Muskegon Chronicle. One of my all time favorites passed away today.
We’re all waiting to see what you transmit back to us, Ken. Through tears over your loss and warm smiles for what you quietly taught us about life, love and photography, we’re all waiting for your usual spectacular images.
