I desperately looked to find a photo of Ken, but could not, because… well, he always took the pictures. Instead, I thought I would share a photo that demonstrated Ken’s sense of humor. It’s from our beach volleyball days with the Comerica Bank team — where my wife Jody and Ken’s wife Teresa worked. As I’m sure you will all agree Ken’s humor was one-of-a-kind, as shown on the back of this photo.
What’s funnier is that he shot several of these and would time-release mail them, hoping to motivate us about the upcoming season. (Kind of like blackmail, because we never really knew what he shot!) About this same time in 1994, he told me about an opening in the art department at The Chronicle. Little did I know I would spend the next 13+ years working with Ken and the rest of the amazing staff I am proud to consider as my extended family.
Ken, I will never forget your smile, your kindness, or your sense of humor.
